Outdoor Fire Pits part 2…the perfect outdoor compliment!

June 21st, 2008 by edispu luxury

Fire pits fit into just about every outdoor setting. They can be used in rural areas as a way for couples to get together and relax, in suburban backyards as they are safer than bonfires and easier to maintain or in cities, as a way to remind urban dwellers of their rural roots. Settling beside a fire pit, sipping wine or colas and passing the time with friends, family or loved ones is quickly becoming a past time for many people, even if they do not have large recreational areas attached to their houses. Outdoor fire pits come in all types of shapes, sizes and with different amenities to increase comfort and safety. Shapes typically resemble the charcoal pit of your average outdoor grill, and preferably made from copper or some other flame resistant material. They range in size from small to large and we encourage the optional safety feature such as the retractable mesh fire pit spark screen.

The area that you set up for your outdoor fire pit, should have some sort of fire resistant base, such as a slab of concrete, embedded stones or a ground area free of grass. Additionally, your area should be free of low hanging branches from trees, any shrubbery or other fire hazards as they do occasionally give off sparks. That’s why we recommend and supply expertly matched fire pit screens to compliment the beauty, quality and most importantly the safety of enjoying the outdoor fire pit experience.

The purpose of a well made fire pit is to add warmth, character and an area to relax. Keep that in mind when choosing the ideal fire pit for your outdoor space. Make sure that your supply of wood is close at hand and do not make it too far from your house. Above all, select something that will add beauty to your backyard and give you a place to enjoy family and friends.

Hot Travel Destinations in Italy

June 9th, 2008 by edispu luxury

Of all the “romantic” countries, Italy is the one country that most of us want to visit, have an affinity for and frankly, gets the most press. Italy is fully Mediterranean, which adds to its allure and Italy’s history is rich in very high profile events and culture. It serves as the center of the Catholic Church, home to one of the five greatest empires and has all the cultural trappings of dozens of centuries to make a rich cornucopia of old and new.

Mention hot destination places in Italy and you are likely to get as many answers as the people you ask. Part of this is because the country is so diverse. It ranges from the aura of Sicily, to the majesty of Rome to the canals of Venice and the northern beauty of the Southern Alps. Its cities range from “Old World,” Rome, cosmopolitan-modern Perugia, ultra-rich Milan, seaport Genoa, romantic Venice and virtually everything in between.

Depending where you choose to visit, you can see a mixture of university culture as in the city of Padova, u modern chic that can be found in Naples or renaissance-historical history in Florence. You should not, however forget the countryside. Italy has some of the most beautiful rural areas in Europe, rivaling the countryside of France or Spain in its mixture of modern amenities and old world culture. In each region the food is different, ranging from heavier and more traditional dishes in the south to lighter fish and meat based fare in the north.

Peaceful Al Fresco Dining Continued…

June 9th, 2008 by edispu luxury

Turning an outdoor space into an Al Fresco dining room requires a creative mind that will incorporate the natural habitat with that of a peaceful dining area. This can be done in many different ways, but the goal is to pull together an area that people feel relaxed, happy and peaceful. Depending on where you live, this can be as easy as walking into your backyard and setting up a picnic table or as difficult as having to erect barrier walls, climbing vines and at least one source of “white” noise to drowned out the sounds of a city, highway or pedestrians.

Using a fountain or small pond is another way to create a mood, drown outside noises and encourage tranquility. This can work in both urban and rural areas as the sound of running water tends to soothe just about everyone in any environment. Whether you use a smaller, tabletop version or go to the expense of having an in ground bubbling fountain or pond. There are simple and sophisticated fountains, ponds and pond and fountain combinations available on the internet and depending on your skills at designing, can be as simple or complex as your imagination allows.

Make sure your garden area is filled with colorful plants and flowers, which echo the vibrant culture of Italy. If you have a small space, consider container plantings with authentic Italian pottery and planters, using fragrant flowers that have a long bloom season. In larger backyards, the sky is the limit – your outdoor dining area can be as lush and romantic as your pocketbook will allow. For mood and accent lighting infuse some copper tiki torches and oil lamps or romantic wood burning fire pit.

Balancing Warmth and Luxury in Home Décor – Part 2

June 7th, 2008 by edispu luxury

So, how are luxury and warmth balanced in a way that allows for comfort yet still illustrates your good taste in furniture and home décor? It is actually not as hard as it might seem. Creating that balance takes some thought, but virtually everyone can do it with any style of décor imaginable.

Using art that is timeless is also a good idea. Italian pottery offers many different possibilities. Mixing tasteful pottery pieces and art throughout your abode will allow for a warm, but luxurious atmosphere.

Additionally, you want to include different accents that have appeal aesthetically, but also lend themselves to helping create an aura of understated comfort. Another good suggestion is to incorporate wood sculptures within your home. Deep dark wood creates a sense of elegance, but also exude comfort.

How you decorate your walls also plays a role in determining the overall aura of the house. Colors can be bold, but should also be done in way that is not overwhelming. Also, using off whites, creams and beiges create a sense of calm that also lends to a comfortable environment. Lastly, avoid stark colors unless they are muted by smudging or “raking” to dull their effect somewhat.

Mixing class and comfort is not difficult to do as long as you choose your luxury home décor carefully. By embracing luxury items and setting them around a room, you can set an aura of luxury and warmth. Most of all, people are comfortable with their own preferences, so make sure that anything that is chosen is done so in a way that will reflect your personality and likes. That way, no matter what you choose, you will be comfortable because it reflects your innate taste.

Planning a Trip to New Zealand: An Overview

June 4th, 2008 by edispu luxury

For centuries, travel to countries like New Zealand seemed almost as remote as travel to the moon. In the not too distant past, travelers had to board a ship, dedicate months to the ocean experience, run a chance of catching scurvy or going down in storms and ending up in the country in much worse shape than when you left, with the only prospect of returning being a reverse repeat of your journey there. Air travel changed all that and today, from most places in North America, if you left tonight, you can be in New Zealand by morning.

There are, however, some things you need to consider before you embark. First, the flight to New Zealand takes about twelve hours from the West Coast of the United States, so you need to factor the time it takes to get to San Diego or Los Angeles as part of the overall time it takes to get to your destination. In some cases, such as if you live in the eastern United States or Eastern Canada, that can add up to a half a day to your trip.

You also should consider the time of year to visit. While summer and winter temperatures only vary about 10 degrees Celsius, the seasons are the reverse of what we experience in the Northern Hemisphere. That means that their summer months are in November through February and the coldest months in June, July and August.

Clothing in New Zealand is generally casual and informal. Dressy casual is accepted at just about all restaurants. In the winter, a light to medium jacket is recommended and in the summer, it is wise to bring a sweater or light jacket for the evenings.

To enter New Zealand, all travelers must have a valid passport and in most cases you can stay for up to 3 months without a visa. All major credit cards and banking ATM companies are accepted and international traveler’s checks are also acceptable. Banks and ATM machines are located throughout the country.

Travel in New Zealand is solely dependent on your travel goals and itinerary. The country has many manmade and natural wonders that can keep a person busy for years. One thing to check out is the plethora of local artisans that dot the countryside and often sell their wares in open markets.

New Zealand is known for its New Zealand Sheepskin products. These can include rugs, blankets and the inner fiber in coats. Seeing how these products are made is one trip that is highly recommended as it gives one the sense of the care and quality that goes into each product.

The government in New Zealand is a parliamentary democracy, so many of the same laws that apply to Europe, Canada and the United States are in effect there. Crime is very low in most areas and there are no international advisories. Most of the cities are very clean and modern and almost all have basic infrastructure, civil government and up to date accommodations, including communications abilities.

Overall, a trip to New Zealand is something that will be remembered for a lifetime. The country of New Zealand has a web site that will help you start your planning for your trip. Once there, you can get to see why some people in ages past might have risked the discomfort of a trip at sea to get to this paradise.
